Happy Holiday Weight Loss Advice

The season of tasty food and drink does not have to undo your progress. A few practical habits keep the average holiday gain off your frame.

Happy Holiday Weight Loss Advice

With the holiday season among us, we reach the time of year where celebration usually means tasty foods and generous drinks. The average American gains weight between late November and the new year — and most of it never comes back off.

Eat before you arrive

Turning up hungry to a party is the fastest route to a plate you did not plan. A protein-forward snack beforehand takes the edge off and makes it far easier to choose what you actually want to eat.

Drink with intention

Alcohol carries calories, lowers inhibition around food, and disturbs the sleep that keeps your appetite hormones steady. Alternating each drink with sparkling water does more for your week than any January detox.

Keep moving, even briefly

You do not need an hour in the gym. A twenty-minute walk after a big meal blunts the blood sugar spike and keeps your routine from disappearing for six weeks.

Do not wait for January

If weight has been creeping up for a few seasons, the holidays are not the problem — they are the symptom. A lab evaluation and a real plan work far better than another resolution.
